As we all reflect on the results of the 2024 election, Create Wisconsin is paying special attention to the potential implications for arts and creative economy funding and policy in Wisconsin and beyond. With an ever-evolving political landscape and the 2025-2027 state budget season on the horizon, Create Wisconsin's collaborative, ongoing advocacy efforts are all about putting arts and creative economy investment and policies front and center.

As Wisconsin’s community cultural advocacy and development organization, Create Wisconsin is continually activating cross-sector partnerships, engaging new audiences, strengthening relationships with policymakers on both sides of the aisle, and making sure your stories of creativity and transformation are heard.

Remember, true, effective advocacy is a daily activity and builds over time.  Your active involvement is critical as we navigate the changing landscape and strive to grow and strengthen Wisconsin’s vibrant creative sector. Please make your voice heard, starting now.  Click here for:

  • Create Wisconsin’s 2024-2025 Legislative Agenda

  • What you can do as an advocate? Plenty, starting right now. Send a message to Gov. Evers and members of the Legislature asking for increased funding for the arts and creativity in the 2025-2027 state budget. And, ask 5, 10, or more of your friends, colleagues, audiences, and supporters, to

  • Get to know the new and returning members of the Legislature, who will be sworn in at the beginning of January, at www.myvote.wi.gov.

And, mark your calendars for these events:

  • Creative Conversation: post-election recap and pre-budget season advocacy update, Thursday, December 5, 10 am: Join Create Wisconsin for a post-election and pre-budget season update and conversation. Learn about Create Wisconsin's 2024-2025 Legislative Agenda, info about new and returning legislators, and advocacy strategies and actions for the upcoming budget season to grow investment in Wisconsin's creative assets. Zoom info and materials will be sent before the date. Register here. 

  • Wisconsin Local Arts and Creativity Conference, Monday, March 24 (note the new date), Art + Literature Lab, Madison. Make plans to be in Madison the day before Create Wisconsin Day for this pre-conference focused on community engagement, networking, and placemaking, and, a special session for Make Music Day communities.

  • Create Wisconsin Day, Tuesday, March 25 (note the new date), Overture Center for the Arts, downtown Madison.  It’s Wisconsin’s biggest day for the arts and creativity and you don’t want to miss it!  

  • Create Wisconsin Month, April 2025 - celebrating the arts and creativity all month long.
